Graduate Stipends and Scholarships

Physiology and Pharmacology Graduate Program

Stipends

1.  Stipends. The policy of the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology is that all qualifying MSc and PhD students receive an annual stipend for the duration of the residency period of their graduate degree program (see Section 2, below). The stipend for students with no external awards, and within the normal duration of their graduate program, is composed of funds from the supervisor’s research grants together with a scholarship from the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (SGPS).  Note that only full-time students who meet the conditions for progression towards their degree, as established by the Physiology and Pharmacology Graduate Program, are eligible for SGPS financial support.

*TAships for MSc students are not guaranteed. Supervisors are responsible for contributing the difference if a TAship is not offered.

**TAship amount will be determined as per the Collective Agreement at the time and may not reflect the amount in this document.

***Most scholarships are highly competitive. Only base funding, without scholarships is guaranteed.

2.  Duration of stipend support. Provided they remain in good standing, students are guaranteed funding only during the normal residency period of their degree program. Normal program residency duration times are 6 terms for MSc students, 12 terms for PhD students, and 15 terms for direct-entry PhD students or for students who transfer from the MSc to the PhD program.
